This film is gorgeous. It tracks four infants from birth to twelve months.
Two of the babies are raised rurally in Namibia and Mongolia, and the other two are being brought up in urban settings in Japan and America.
This documentary is simply an observation of life, following babies through their daily lives and contrasting their environments and behaviours. It offers up beautifully shot scenes set to music (there is practically no talking in the film), and is strangely captivating.
BABIES is humorous and educational, and made me question a lot about how and why we raise our babies the way we do.
