Mexican hospitals will no longer give out free samples of formula to mothers, in a bid to boost breastfeeding rates.
Only 14% of Mexican babies are breastfed exclusively for six months, as recommended by The World Health Organisation.
Formula will still be available for purchase, but no longer provided for free.
The most recent statistics suggest that breastfeeding rates in Australia are probably similarly low - with only 15% of mothers exclusively breastfeeding for six months.
Initiation rates in Australia are high at 96%, but drop off significantly every month thereafter.
